Grain-Free Apple Nut Porridge

March 7, 2024

This apple nut porridge is a delicious grain-free alternative to oatmeal. By using Brazil nuts, an apple, and some coconut milk, it’ll turn into a thick, creamy porridge that you can enjoy for breakfast or as a snack.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe

  • Grain-Free: Instead of traditional oats, this porridge is made from Brazil nuts.  Brazil nuts are one of the most energy-dense, nutritious nuts that also happen to be one of the most concentrated forms of the mineral selenium. (Just one brazil nut boasts 96 mcg—which is 175% of the RDI.) Selenium is an essential mineral for the health of your thyroid, immune system, and cells (1).
  • Nutrient Dense: Apples are rich in antioxidants, fiber, and vitamin C and come with a variety of health benefits, including maintenance of blood sugar, type 2 diabetes, and cholesterol (2, 3, 4).
  • Boosts 7 Grams of Collagen: Collagen peptides are considered the “glue” that hold the body together. Containing 19 of the 20 amino acids, collagen peptides provide strength and support to bones, joints, hair, skin, nails, and more (5).

Here’s What You Need

  • High-Speed Blender: To turn the Brazil nuts into a creamy porridge consistency.
  • Apples: To add a sweet, refreshing crunch with the added bonus of fiber and antioxidants.
  • Brazil Nuts: To provide a grain-free base for the porridge plus a healthy dose of selenium for your thyroid and immune health.
  • Full-Fat Coconut Milk: To make the porridge creamy without gut-irritating dairy.
  • Vanilla Extract: To add sweet vanilla flavor.
  • Cinnamon: To provide a burst of bold cinnamon flavor.
  • NativePath Collagen Peptides: To add additional protein and joint-protecting collagen to the porridge.
  • Pink Himalayan Salt: To bring out a little more flavor and a healthy sprinkle of sodium.

Variations

  • With porridge, you can have fun with the toppings. Add berries, bananas, walnuts, nut butter, or pumpkin pie spice.
