Krill is a small shrimp-like crustacean abundant in the Antarctic Ocean. It’s known for its high concentration of omega-3 fatty acids (EPA and DHA) and the potent antioxidant, astaxanthin.
There are a few differences… 1) Krill oil has a higher concentration of EPA, an omega-3 that offers a wide range of health benefits. 2) Krill oil contains astaxanthin, a powerful antioxidant that gives krill its striking red color. (Fish oil does not contain astaxanthin.) 3) Lastly, krill oil doesn’t come with any fishy burps or aftertaste.
If you’re taking a medication that slows blood clotting, krill oil may increase your risk of bruising or bleeding.* Consult with your doctor before adding krill oil to your dietary regimen.
